Self-Portrait
In my self-portrait, my goal was to portray a realistic depictionof my face. I think I was successful in acheieving this goal by drawing the shadows that were being cast on my face. The shadows look different on every person's face, so finding the correct shapes was the key. The composition I chose included two mirrors; my face more close up in one than in the other. One mirror shows my face, while the other mirror shows the posture of my body in the way I was sitting. I selected this composition because I found it extremely interesting. The lighting on my face is exceptional. In the drawing to the right, my nose is creating a dark shadow. In the drawing to the left, one side of my face is disappearing into the darkness. I created a 3D form by using the eraser to cut out the light areas. My background is pretty simple, other than the light sketch of the easel. This portrait reinforces my extremely unique style that could be recognized by anyone. The biggest risk I took in my portrait was drawing two pictures of my face and making them look like the same person. Although this was not easy, I think was successful in creating my look.
